I contributed my work to UTC's Annual Literary Magazine, the Sequoya Review. Out of numerous submissions from UTC students, my work was selected as the cover image for the 2023 issue. I amthankful for this opportunity and grateful to Sadie Lavaun and the UTC Literary team for choosing my work. Sadie and the UTC Literary team invited me to speak at the Annual Sequoya Review Launch Party. 

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Sequoya Review and to have my artwork featured on its cover.

Oat Milk 

Modular Type


&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; For
this project, I developed a typeface rooted in a modular system composed of
five distinct shapes. Each letter in this typeface has been 
crafted using only these five foundational modules. Employing a grid as my
guiding framework, I refined the design through three distinct revisions. The
culmination of this effort is a cohesive set of 26 characters that possess both
legibility and a harmonious visual relationship. You can view an accompanying
specimen sheet and mock-up below.

	Process
&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; My creative process is grounded in research and iterative refinement. For this font I drew inspiration from a
plant-based food line, aiming to embellish my letterforms with a sense of
sleekness and smoothness. In the initial iteration, my letters appeared
excessively bulky and lacked readiness for public presentation. Subsequent
iterations were dedicated to refining the letterforms, focusing on reducing the
width of the central strokes while preserving a whimsical and bold typeface
character. You can explore my process work in the accompanying materials
provided below.

The Rise of Kyoshi

Speculative Book Cover


For this speculative
project, I redesigned the book cover for The
Rise of Kyoshi in the Avatar: The Last
Airbender series. The project began with an analysis of key narrative
elements that would visually communicate the essence of the story through the
cover design. Central to this were the distinctive attributes of the main
character, her signature fans, headdress, and makeup.


To evoke the spirit
of the Earth Kingdom, I chose a whimsical sans-serif typeface that aligns with
the narrative's tone. The front and back covers incorporate inward panels that
provide essential information about the book and its author.


This project enabled
me to merge product design with illustration and storytelling. I meticulously
measured, crafted, and printed the cover using an Epson large format printer,
ensuring high-quality output.
